Radial Deviation Roll & Glide

Position of the therapist:

  • Standing distal and lateral to the arm

Position of the patient:

  • Sitting at the long edge of the bench
  • Forearm in neutral supported on slightly lifted head part of the bench
  • Wrist hangs freely

Hand placement:

  • Contralateral hand fixates patient’s forearm on the bench
  • Ipsilateral hand grabs patient’s proximal intercarpal row from radial
  • Alternative: see video

Direction:

  • Roll into radial and distal direction
  • Glide by a push on the proximal intercarpal row into ulnar and proximal direction

N.B:

The proximal component is added as the distal radius reaches slightly more distal than the ulna
