PIP Gap Manipulation Dorsal Capsule

Position of the therapist:

• Standing at the long edge of the bench on the side to be treated
• Facing in cranial direction

Position of the patient:

• Supine lying position

Hand placement:

• Ipsilateral hand grabs the patient’s finger close to the joint line so that the index finger supports the palmar side
• Thumb of the same hand fixates the position from dorsally
• Optional: Other hand placed around the fixating hand

Impuls:

• Arm lifted off the bench for traction, MCP placed into submaximal flexion, thrust by radially deviating the wrist
