Glenohumeral Dorsal Capsule Roll & Glide

Position of the therapist:

• Standing at the long edge of the bench behind the patient

Position of the patient:

• Side-lying on the unaffected side
• Patient places hand of the unaffected arm over the pectorals against the opposite coracoid process
• Affected arm placed behind the patients back in internal rotation with slight abduction

Hand placement:

• The therapist holds onto the patient’s forearm with one hand to use as a lever
• The other hand supports the patient’s arm at the elbow
• Forearm of that hand placed anteriorly over the humeral head

Direction:

• Anterior roll using the forearm lever
• Dorsolateral glide using the forearm over the humeral head
