ACJ Traction Manipulation

Position of the therapist:

  • Stand contralateral to the side to be manipulated

Position of the patient:

  • Supine position close to the long edge of the bench
  • Contralateral arm placed on abdomen

Hand placement:

  • Contralateral hand fixates cervical spine from dorsal so that the radius of the supinated forearm is placed against the margo medialis of the scapula
  • Heel of the other hand placed against the ventral part of the acromion and head of the humerus

Direction of the manipulation:

  • Dorsolateral
