ACJ Manipulation Dorsal Capsule

Position of the therapist:

  • Standing next to the side to be manipulated

Position of the patient:

  • Upright sitting position
  • Patient’s shoulder at the height of therapist’s sternum
  • Glenohumeral joint in internal rotation with a flexed elbow behind patient’s back

Hand placement:

  • Thenar eminence of ipsilateral hand against the ventral side of the lateral clavicle
  • Contralateral arm goes through patient’s fixated arm and the hand is placed on the scapula
  • Optional: Intertwine fingers of both hands for more stability

Impuls:

  • Clavicle dorsal, acromion ventral
