Proximal Tibiofibular Joint Play

Position of the therapist:

  • Sitting on the patients foot on the side to be examined/treated

Position of the patient:

  • Supine lying position
  • Knee flexed to 70°
  • Talocrural joint on a sandbag in 10° plantar flexion

Hand placement:

  • Ipsilateral hand fixates proximal tibia from medial
  • Contralateral hand’s thumb on ventral aspect of fibular head and index and middle finger on the dorsal side

Direction:

  • Translation into dorsomedial and ventrolateral direction
