Fibula Ventral Manipulation (supine)

Position of the therapist:

  • Standing lateral and caudal to the knee to be treated

Position of the patient:

  • Supine lying position
  • Feet hanging off the bench
  • Leg in internal rotation
  • Foot dorsiflexed and in eversion (to create pre-tension at the proximal tibiofibular joint in ventral direction)

Hand placement:

  • Contralateral hand in a fist and thenar eminence placed under the patient’s fibular head
  • Ipsilateral hand placed on the proximal tibia

Direction of the manipulation:

  • Dorsal via the tibia
