Fibula Ventral Manipulation (kneeling)

Position of the therapist:

  • Standing at the short edge of the bench facing cranially

Position of the patient:

  • Close to the short edge of the bench on their hands and knees
  • Feet hang off the table
  • Bench adjusted to therapist’s knee height

Hand placement:

  • With the tibia in internal rotation, the therapist fixates the patient’s foot in dorsiflexion and eversion with their thigh (pre-tension at the proximal tibiofibular joint in ventral direction)
  • Base of contralateral hand on the fibular head from dorsally
  • Other hand on top

Direction of the manipulation:

  • Ventral, lateral, and slight proximal direction
