Secondary Hip Traction Manipulation

Position of the therapist:

  • Standing caudal to the patient in a split stance

Position of the patient:

  • Supine crook lying position with the lower back exposed for more friction (fixation)
  • Leg to be treated in slight flexion and abduction

Hand placement:

  • Both hands grab the leg above the malleoli

Direction of the manipulation:

  • Distal
