Indirect Rotation C1-C2 (supine)

Position of the therapist:

  • Standing at the long edge of the bench

Position of the patient:

  • Oblique supine lying position with head close to the edge
  • Head part of the bench elevated
  • Cervical spine below C2 in flexion, rotation and contralateral lateral flexion with one hand on the patient’s chin
  • Patient’s head resting on therapist’s forearm

Hand placement:

  • MCP 2 of working hand on arch of C1
  • Thumb rests on patient’s zygomatic bone

Movement:

  • Maximal Rotation via the MCP 2 on the arch of C1, while assisting this movement via the hand on the patient’s chin
