Direct Flexion C0-C3 (supine)

Position of the therapist:

  • Standing at the short edge of the bench

Position of the patient:

  • Supine lying position

Hand placement:

  • Fixating hand on C3 with a key grip into ventrocranial direction
  • Working hand placed low on the patient’s occiput
  • Patient’s head fixated between working hand and therapist’s shoulder

Movement:

  • Maximal heteronymous 3D movement with equal components of flexion, contralateral lateral flexion and ipsilateral rotation. The flexion becomes visible by tucking the patient’s chin in
  • Alternative: Perform this movement with the other hand and to laterally flex towards oneself and to rotate the patient’s head away.
