Position of the therapist:
- Standing close to the long edge of the bench
Position of the patient:
- Patient lies diagonally on the bench in supine so that the head is close to the therapist
- Cervical spine in submaximal heterogenous 3D flexion until C1
- C0-C1 are brought into minimal heteronymous lateral flexion
Hand placement:
- Fixating hand grasps the patient’s chin and has the dorsolateral side of the patient’s head resting on the forearm
- Patient’s head is incorporated between the therapist’s trunk and forearm
- Forearm rests on the head part of the bench
- Palmar aspect of 2nd proximal phalanx of the working hand placed on the caudolateral part of the patient’s mastoid process
- Therapist’s forearm points into the direction of lateral flexion
Direction of the manipulation:
- Lateral flexion towards the bench
