Low-cervical Downslope Manipulation

Position of the therapist:

  • Standing behind the patient in a split stance

Position of the patient:

  • Patient is in sitting position with the feet on the ground
  • Patient leans backwards comfortably against the lateral side of the therapist’s thigh
  • Patient’s head at the height of the therapist’s abdomen
  • Patient’s spine in heteronymous 3D flexion until the level to be treated

Hand placement:

  • Hypothenar eminence of the contralateral hand on the arch of the upper level
  • Thumb fixates the contralateral arch of the lower level

Direction of the manipulation:

  • Rotation in ventrolateral direction
