The head part of the bench is lowered to make room for the extension part of the movement
Position of the patient:
Diagonal supine lying position
C1-C2 maximally rotated
Hand placement:
Fixating hand on C7 with a key grip into ventrocranial direction with back of the hand resting on the bench
Working hand placed on patient’s occiput
Patient’s head fixated between working hand and therapist’s shoulder/chest in a chin tuck
Movement:
Maximal homonymous 3D movement with the working hand and shoulder with equal components of extension, ipsilateral lateral flexion and ipsilateral rotation. This is best accomplished by moving the knees from extension to flexion and by moving the body side-ways
This movement causes maximal compression of the facet joints of C2 till C7 on the ipsilateral side
