Mid-cervical Uslope Rotation Manipulation (supine)

Position of the therapist:

  • Standing at the height of the patient’s head on the side to be treated

Position of the patient:

  • Patient lies diagonally on the bench in supine so that the head is close to the therapist
  • Cervical spine in submaximal heteronymous 3D flexion until level to be manipulated

Hand placement:

  • Fixating hand grasps the patient’s chin and has the patient’s head resting on the forearm
  • Patient’s head can be incorporated between the therapist’s trunk and forearm
  • Forearm rests on the head part of the bench
  • Palmar aspect of 2nd proximal phalanx of the working hand placed on the homolateral cervical arch of the upper level to be manipulated
  • Therapist’s forearm is positioned perpendicular to the patient’s cervical spine

Direction of the manipulation:

  • Upslope manipulation in rotation direction
