Position of the therapist:
- Standing at the long edge of the bench on the side to be examined/treated
Position of the patient:
- Prone lying position
- Knee bent to 90°
Hand placement:
- Middle finger of ipsilateral hand placed over neck of the talus
- Contralateral hand placed over the plantar aspect of the calcaneus
- Alternative: see video
Direction:
- Contralateral hand rolls talus into ventral and proximal direction
- Ipsilateral hand glides talus dorsally and distally
N.B:
The roll of the talus is going to be in ventral and proximal direction as the tibia is shorter anteriorly. One can position the joint line horizontally by flexing the knee further than 90°.
