Ulnar Grinding Test

Execution:

  1. The patient’s forearm is fixed and the wrist is placed in dorsiflexion
  2. The examiner applies axial load to the wrist
  3. The wrist is rotated and moved into ulnar deviation

 

Positive Outcome: Pain and crepitations are reproduced

Comment: Due to the poor specificity of this test, the diagnostic value of this test is rather weak. Interestingly, MRI imaging did not perform better and reached a comparably high level of sensitivity and poor specificity in this study
