Midcarpal / MC Test | Arcuate Ligament

Execution:

  1. The patient is sitting position across the examiner
  2. The patient’s wrist is placed into radial deviation
  3. The examiner’s right hand grabs the patient’s right hand so that the thumb is
positioned over the dorsal distal capitate region
  4. The examiner exerts a palmarly directed force onto the patient’s wrist so that the carpal bones translate in palmar direction
  5. The examiner moves the wrist into ulnar deviation while maintaining the palmarly directed pressure

Positive Outcome: Painful clunk as the wrist moves from radial to ulnar deviation
