Tinel Sign

Execution:

  1. Patient is in upright sitting position with the arms at the side of the body
  2. Using a reflex hammer or index finger, the examiner taps on the supraclavicular fossa

 

Positive Outcome: Reproduction of patient’s familiar symptoms or reporting of tenderness

Comment: The test exerts direct stress to the mechanosensitive brachial plexus. Be aware that it is unlikely that this test is able to distinguish between patients with cervical radiculopathy and TOS as it is likely positive in both conditions
