Throwing Test

  1. The patient is standing with the examiner standing behind the affected shoulder
  2. The patient brings his arm into 90° abduction and maximal external rotation with the elbow flexed to 90°.
  3. The patient steps forward with the contralateral leg and tries to mimick a throw, while the examiner gives isometric resistance at the patient’s wrist

 

Positive Outcome: Reproduction of pain felt inside the glenohumeral joint
