Bicipital Palpation for Tenderness

  1. The patient is standing with the examiner standing behind the affected shoulder
  2. The examiner manually palpates along the course of the extraarticular long head of the biceps tendon with the arm in neutral
  3. The examiner internally and externally rotates the arm during palpation to confirm the location of pain to the bicipital tunnel

 

Positive Outcome: The patient reports tenderness upon palpation of the long head of the biceps
