Execution:
- Patient is in sitting position
- The patient’s shoulder is brought into adduction, 70-90° of flexion and internal rotation, while you give a posteriorly directed force through the humerus
- The other hand palpates the anterior and posterior joint line, while stabilizing the clavicle and scapula
- The patient’s shoulder is moved into horizontal abduction and external rotation
Positive Outcome: A clunk is felt during the movement, which indicates relocation of the humeral head after posterior subluxation
