Scapular Assistance Test (SAT)

Execution:

  1. The patient is in standing position
  2. Fixate the clavicle and the scapular spine with one hand, while the other hand grabs the inferior angle of the scapula
  3. Patient performs elevation or abduction while the movement of the scapula is assisted

Positive Outcome: Patient experiences less pain during the assisted movement in comparison with the unassisted movement, which can indicate weakness of the scapular stabilizers
