Paxino Sign

Execution:

  1. The examiner’s thumb rests on the posterolateral aspect of the acromion and the index and long fingers superiorly on the midpart of the clavicle
  2. The examiner then applies pressure with the thumb in an anterosuperior direction and into inferior direction on the clavicle with the other fingers

 

Positive Outcome: Pain on top of the shoulder in the area of the AC joint

Comment: The authors found that patients with both a negative Paxinos test and a negative bone scan had a likelihood ratio of 0.03 for having acromioclavicular joint pain, which basically rules out the disorder.
