AC Shear Test

Execution:

  1. Patient is in sitting position
  2. The examiner places the heel of one hand against the patient’s scapular spine and the heel of the other hand against the clavicle
  3. Then the examiner squeezes both palms together to create a shear force in the patient’s AC joint

 

Positive Outcome: Abnormal movement at the AC joint compared to the other side and possible pain provocation
