Execution:
- Patient is lying on the asymptomatic side with the hips bent to 45° and the knees flexed to 90°
- The examiner is standing behind the patient and positions both hands on the anterior rim of the ilium
- At last, the examiner applies 3-6 vertical thrusts with moderate velocity and gradually increasing pressure
Positive Outcome: Patient’s familiar pain (usually in the buttock, lower lumbar spine, posterolateral thigh and groin) is reproduced
| Study | Reliability | Sn | Sp | LR+ | LR- |
| Laslett et al. (2005) | NA | 69 | 69 | 2.20 | 0.46 |
| Schneider et al. (2020) | NA | 60 | 56 | 1.36 | 0.71 |
| Szadek et al. (2009) | NA | 62.8 | 69.2 | 2.03 | 0.54 |
| Comment: Not a very good stand-alone test, but proven useful in the Cluster of Laslett and van der Wurff, where it is performed with increasing pressure instead of thrusts. | |||||
