Sacral Thrust Test

Execution:

  1. Patient is prone lying position and the examiner is standing on the affected side
  2. The examiner places the base of their hand (fingers pointing in cranial direction) on the spinous process S2
  3. Then the examiner applies 3-6 higher velocity thrusts with gradually increasing pressure in vertical direction

 

Positive Outcome: Patient’s familiar pain (usually in the buttock, lower lumbar spine, posterolateral thigh and groin) is reproduced
