Quadriceps Active Test / Active Drawer Test

Execution:

  1. Patient is in supine lying position with the hip in 45° and the knee in 90° of flexion. The examiner may fixate this position by sitting on the patient’s forefoot
  2. The examiner then asks the patient to try to move the foot forward on the bench against the examiner’s resistance
  3. Optional: In a second part of this test, the patient contracts the hamstrings against resistance to accentuate the posterior sag

Positive Outcome: In case of a torn PCL, there will be a posterior sag of the tibia before the quadriceps contraction. With the quadriceps contraction, the tibia will translate anteriorly
