Execution:
- Patient is in supine position with the legs extended
- The examiner palpates the patellar tendon for local tenderness from proximal to distal
- If a tender sport is detected, the patient’s knee is flexed to 90°
- The examiner palpates the previously found tender spot again
Positive Outcome: Pain upon palpation is markedly reduced or absent when the knee is flexed to 90°
