Ege’s Test / Weightbearing McMurray Test

Execution:

  1. The patient is standing with fully extended knees and both feet 30-40 centimeters apart. The patient may hold on to an object fo stability
  2. To detect a medial meniscus tear the patient is asked to maximally squat with both legs in maximal external rotation
  3. For the lateral meniscus both legs are brought into maximal internal rotation and a squat is performed as low as possible

 

Positive Outcome: Pain and/or a (sometimes audible) click is felt by the patient at the related site of the joint line
