Hoffa’s Test

Execution:

  1. Patient is in supine position with the knee flexed to 30°-60°
  2. The examiner supports the tibia dorsally with one hand
  3. The examiner exerts direct pressure on the medial and lateral side of the inferior pole of the patella
  4. The same steps are repeated with the knee in extension

 

Positive Outcome: Patient complains of increased pain upon pressure on either side in the extended position compared to the flexed position
