Cross Over Test of Arnold | Anterolateral Rotatory Instability

Execution:

  1. Patient is in standing position and crosse the unaffected leg over the affected leg while keeping the foot of the affected limb flat on the floor
  2. The examiner gently steps on the affected foot in order to fixate it
  3. The patient is asked to rotate their torso as far as possible while contracting the quadriceps

Positive Outcome: This position should reproduce a lateral pivot-shift and symptoms of “the knee wanting to go out”
