Execution:
Following is the description for assessing the right knee
- Patient is in supine lying position with the affected knee flexed to 90°
- Using the right hand, the examiner picks up the leg by grasping the lateral side of the ankle and applies internal rotation
- The left hand rests on the lateral aspect of the patient’s femur and applies a valgus force
- The thumb of that hand is placed on the posterior aspect of the head of the fibula
- Then the knee is gradually extended
Positive Outcome: The tibial plateau suddenly subluxates anteriorly and medially with a palpable jolt that usually occurs at around 40°-20° of flexion. The patient pay also report the feeling of “giving-way” as felt during activities
