Losee Test

Execution:

Following is the description for assessing the left knee

  1. Patient is in supine lying position and the examiner stands on the side to be examined
  2. The examiner grabs the patient’s leg with the left hand, supporting the patient’s left foot and ankle, and places the leg in external rotation. The leg can be braced against the examiner’s abdomen
  3. The examiner then pushes the leg into 30° flexion with the left hand to allow the hamstrings to relax
  4. The right hand is placed on the patient’s knee so that the thumb hooks behind the head of the fibula
  5. The examiner adds a valgus stress by pulling the foot laterally and adding a medial force with the right hand
  6. Maintaining the valgus torgue, the leg is slowly extended, allowing it to move into internal rotation and the head of the fibula is pushed anteriorly

Positive Outcome: The tibia subluxates anteriorly and the patient reports a familiar feeling of instability
