Execution:
- Patient is in supine lying position
- The examiner stands on the side to be examined and loosely supports the patient’s leg between the arm and abdomen, allowing for tibial rotation to occur
- The examiner uses the forearm to exert a valgus pressure to the knee and uses the other hand to push the femur posteriorly
- The knee is brought into further flexion whilst the valgus pressure, tibial external rotation and posterior push on the femur are applied
Positive Outcome: The anterior drawer becomes apparent at 20°-30° of knee flexion. With further flexion the pivot-shift will occur indicated by the sudden reduction of the anterior subluxation of the tibial plateau
