Greater Trochanter Palpation | Gluteal Tendinopathy

Execution:

  1. Have the patient lie on the unaffected side with the hips flexed to around 60° and the knees together
  2. The examiner palpates the structures around the greater trochanter in a clockwise manner

 

Positive Outcome: Reproduction of the patient’s lateral hip pain of at least 2/10 on the NPRS at the insertion of the gluteus medius and/or gluteaus minimus tendons
