Execution:
- Patient is in supine lying position
- The patient is asked to cross the test leg over the other leg above the knee with the ankle hanging freely
- The examiner then fixates the opposite ilium with one hand and pushes downward on the patient’s knee to move the hip into further abduction
Positive Outcome: The patient’s knee of the tested leg remains above the knee of the extended leg and the patient experiences a stretch at the adductors, which indicates a shortened adductor longus
