Patrick’s /FABER/Figure Four Test | Adductor Longus Length

Execution:

  1. Patient is in supine lying position
  2. The patient is asked to cross the test leg over the other leg above the knee with the ankle hanging freely
  3. The examiner then fixates the opposite ilium with one hand and pushes downward on the patient’s knee to move the hip into further abduction

 

Positive Outcome: The patient’s knee of the tested leg remains above the knee of the extended leg and the patient experiences a stretch at the adductors, which indicates a shortened adductor longus
