Ischiofemoral Impingement Test

Execution:

  1. Patient is in sidelying position on the unaffected side
  2. The examiner palpates the lateral ischium with one hand
  3. The other hand brings the affected hip into maximal extension with the hip in adduction or neutral position
  4. If familiar hip pain is reproduced the test is repeated with the hip in abduction

Positive Outcome: The patient’s familiar posterior hip pain is reproduced in the first position and cannot be reproduced in the second testing position
