Execution:
- The patient lies on the unaffected side
- The examiner passively abducts the patient’s hip to 30-45°, extends and externally rotates it, while an anteriorly directed force is applied to the trochanter with the other hand
Positive Outcome: Reproduction of anterior hip pain is consistent with a positive test result for instability
