Heel Contralateral Knee Maneuver (HCLK)

Execution:

  1. Patient is in supine lying position
  2. The patient is asked to externally rotate the hip to be tested and to place the heel on the contralateral knee
  3. The examiner then flexes the patient’s contralateral hip

Positive Outcome: The patient’s familiar complaints of gluteal pain and/or paresthesia radiating into the posterior aspect of the lower extremity are reproduced
