Head Neck Differentiation Test

Execution:

  1. Patient sits on a swivel chair with the hips and knees flexed to 90°
  2. The patient is asked to close the eyes
  3. The examiner fixates the patient’s head in neutral position
  4. The examiner instructs the patient to actively rotate the trunk 45° to the right and left side at a metronome pace of 60 bpm

 

Positive Outcome: Patient reports dizziness, visual disturbances, unusual eye movement after opening the eyes after the test, speech disturbance, motion sickness or nausea, slurred speech, dysphagia, light-headedness, tinnitus, headache or paresthesia. These symptoms can occur during or immediately after the test
