Execution:
- Patient is in a push-up position in front of a table
- The patient’s hands are placed over the lateral edge of the table so that both forearms are supinated and the elbows are pointing laterally
- The patient is then asked to press up with the symptomatic arm
- The test is then repeated with the examiner stabilizing the radial head in case of a positive finding
- If symptoms are reduced, further confirmation can be obtained by removing the fixation of the humerus at 40° of elbow flexion
Positive Outcome: Reproduction of patient’s familiar symptoms or apprehension at around 40° of elbow flexion.
The findings can be confirmed by a relief of symptoms upon stabilizing the radial head and by an increase of symptoms by removing the fixation at 40° of elbow flexion.
