Tabletop Relocation Test | Posterolateral Rotatory Instability

Execution:

  1. Patient is in a push-up position in front of a table
  2. The patient’s hands are placed over the lateral edge of the table so that both forearms are supinated and the elbows are pointing laterally
  3. The patient is then asked to press up with the symptomatic arm
  4. The test is then repeated with the examiner stabilizing the radial head in case of a positive finding
  5. If symptoms are reduced, further confirmation can be obtained by removing the fixation of the humerus at 40° of elbow flexion

Positive Outcome: Reproduction of patient’s familiar symptoms or apprehension at around 40° of elbow flexion.
The findings can be confirmed by a relief of symptoms upon stabilizing the radial head and by an increase of symptoms by removing the fixation at 40° of elbow flexion.
