Prone Push-Up Test | Posterolateral Rotatory Instability

Execution:

  1. Patient is in prone lying position with his chest on the floor or treatment bench
  2. The patient’s shoulders are abducted with the elbows flexed to 90°
  3. The patient’s hands are placed over the lateral edge of the table so that both forearms are supinated and the elbows are pointing laterally
  4. The patient is then asked to press up

 

Positive Outcome: Patient has apprehension, reports a sense of instability or lateral elbow pain or actual dislocation of the radial head takes place
