Modified Milking Maneuver | Medial Collateral Ligament Tear

Execution:

  1. Patient is in upright sitting position
  2. The examiner brings the patient’s arm into 70° of flexion, 90° of horizontal adduction and maximal external rotation and the patient is asked to support this position with the other arm
  3. The examiner then palpates the medial joint line with the thumb, maximally supinates the patient’s forearm and pulls on the patient’s thumb exerting a valgus force to the elbow

 

Positive Outcome: The patient experiences apprehension, instability and medial joint pain
