Maudsley’s Test / Tennis Elbow

Execution:

  1. Patient is in a comfortable sitting position with the arm on the table, elbow extended (different from the video)
  2. The examiner fixates the forearm while palpating the lateral epicondyle with the thumb
  3. The examiner then pronates the patient’s forearm and puts the palmar side of their hand on the table
  4. The patient then extends the 3rd digit distal to the proximal interphalangeal joint against the examiner’s resistance

Positive Outcome: Sudden pain at the lateral epicondyle is reproduced which indicates involvement of the extensor digitorum longus
