Execution:
- Download the Falls Efficacy Scale questionnaire
- Ask your patient to rate their fear of falling during different activities mentioned in the questionnaire (16 items)
- For every answer a score from 1 (not at all concerned) to 4 (very concerned) is given
- Calculate the sum of all answers given
Outcome: A score of >23 indicates a high fear of falling and may positively predict future falls for the long 16-item version. In the 7-item version, an increased risk of falling is indicated by a score >10.
