Execution:
- Patient is in supine hook lying position
- Ask the patient to tuck the chin in (rotational axis around the ear)
- The patient is asked to lift the head and neck until the head is approximately 2cm above the table
- The examiner stops the test as soon as the patient’s skin folds on the anterior side of the neck disappear or as soon as the patient’s head touches their hand for more than 1 second.
Positive Outcome: There is no cut-off value for a positive or negative test. However, Domenech et al. (2011) reported average hold times in healthy subjects of 39s in men and 29s in women (age 20-80)

Comment: Jarman et al. (2017) report average hold times in young adults aged 14-22 of 32s in women and 36s in men. Lourcenço et al. (2016) report a MDC of 19.15s and found no difference between symptomatic and asymptomatic subjects |
