Traction/Distraction Test | Cervical Radicular Syndrome

Execution:

  1. This test can only be performed if the patient is experiencing arm pain or paresthesia at rest
  2. The patient lies in supine lying position
  3. The examiner hooks the index fingers under the patient’s occiput and applies longitudinal traction

 

Positive Outcome: If the patient experiences a decrease in arm pain or paresthesias
