Execution:
- Patient is in supine lying position
- The examiner then stabilizes the distal tibia and fibula with one hand
- With the other hand the examiner applies a lateral translation force to the ankle by holding onto the calcaneus
Positive Outcome: Lateral translation of the ankle, which should be absent with an intact syndesmosis (compare to the other side)
