Heel Thrust Test | Posterior Ankle Impingement

Execution:

  1. Patient is in supine lying position with the ankle hanging off the table with the foot as relaxed as possible
  2. The examiner places the base of his palm over the patient’s heel with one hand and stabilizes the tibia with the other hand
  3. Then, a thrust is applied horizontally to the heel

 

Positive Outcome: Reproduction of posterior ankle pain
